what we do
We provide activities for children aged 4 to 19, or young people with SEND up to the age of 25, who either live or attend school in North Yorkshire, or are registered to a GP Practice in Craven.
We provide health & wellbeing programmes, targeted holiday activities, peer-support groups and mental health support for children and young people.
Our dedicated staff take time to get to know children and build real connections. If things go wrong, we use restorative practice to sort it out together, and being trauma-informed means we listen and understand what they’ve been through. It’s all about creating a safe space where children can feel supported and thrive.

Refer a child
Please complete the referral form in full to refer a child. Please provide as much information as you can, as this helps us determine the level of support your child needs. You will also be asked to upload a ‘pen picture’ telling us about the child.
If you are a young person referring yourself, please give details of any professionals working with you, if you can.
A child can also be referred to SELFA by a professional working with them or their family. This can be a teacher, social worker, support worker, health visitor or an agency such as Carers’ Resource or Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
You will receive an automatic reply to confirm receipt of referral. The referral will then be reviewed by the appropriate Children & Young People’s Worker who will contact the parent, carer or professional to discuss suitable support.
This will usually be within two weeks but may take longer if received during the school holidays – we are a small team, so please bear with us!
We may ask for more information to make sure your child gets the right support.
Please provide an email address, as most of our communications are sent by email.
