Volunteers’ Week 2026: Help us reach more children across Skipton & Craven

As we celebrate Volunteers’ Week, everyone at SELFA would like to say a heartfelt thank you to the amazing people who give their time to support local children, young people and families.

Whether they’re helping to run groups, driving minibuses for holiday trips or helping us direct the charity as trustees, their contribution makes a real difference to the lives of those we support.

Last year, 18 volunteers gave their time to SELFA, contributing nearly 700 hours across 289 sessions. Today, we have 16 active volunteers alongside eight trustees helping to guide and support our work.

“Like many charities, SELFA simply couldn’t achieve everything it does without volunteers,” SELFA chief officer Emma Pears said. “Their kindness and generosity helps us reach more people who need support. I want to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who gives their time to SELFA. Your contribution is deeply appreciated.

“If you have ever thought about volunteering, please give it a go. Whether you can spare a few hours a month or more regularly, volunteering is a rewarding way to support your community, meet new people and make a positive difference. It might lead you down a new career path too. Charities need volunteers now more than ever, and every hour of support really does count.”

If you’re interested in joining our team of volunteers, we’d love to hear from you. Whether you can offer a few hours occasionally or make a regular commitment, your support makes a lasting difference to our community.
