SELFA Social is a user-led project for young people aged 11-19 aimed to reduce social isolation, develop life skills, foster friendship groups and increase independence, building confidence and raising self-esteem.
A termly planning meeting discusses and plans evening and weekend activities, such as day trips to Leeds or Harrogate, trying sports, going to music festivals or bowling – whatever the group want to do. SELFA staff help and support small groups to carry out their plans, accompanying them on the activity but with the group taking control of budgeting, planning and transport etc.
