What we do

SELFA run a full programme of activities for school-age children (4-19) who live or attend school in North Yorkshire.  This includes health and wellbeing programmes, peer support groups, targeted holiday workshops and trips & residentials.  Staff and volunteers take time to build relationships with children and young people, and we offer one-to-one mentoring for those who are not ready to access a group or need additional support.  We also provide crisis drop-ins on evenings and at weekends for those wanting an empathetic and non-judgmental listener.

If you are a parent/carer of child, or a professional working with a child or family who would benefit from SELFA, the first step is to complete a referral form through the link above.  If self-referring, please give details of any professionals working with you or your child.  You will also be asked to upload a ‘pen picture’ telling us about the child.

You will receive an automatic reply to confirm receipt of the referral.  The referral will then be reviewed by the appropriate Activity Coordinator who will contact the parent/carer to discuss suitable services.  This will usually be within 2 weeks but may take longer if received during the school holidays.

Please note, we do not have the resources to send information by post or contact each parent directly.  Most of our communications are sent by email, so please provide an email address.  We also share information on our Facebook page.
