We are pleased to announce that SELFA have received a £2,000 grant from the Boshier-Hinton Foundation. The foundation exists to improve the quality of life for people living with disabilities and their families.
The grant has been awarded to support the work of AUsome Club which is our after-school club for children on the autism spectrum.
AUsome Club helps children who struggle with social isolation and provides a programme of activities to give them an opportunity to meet new people, make friends, learn new skills and try new activities.
The club aims to provide support for the whole family as knowing that their child is in a safe environment doing an enjoyable activity parents have a weekly hour and a half to spend time with siblings, fulfil other commitments or have space to themselves.
SELFA staff also work with parents to share knowledge and ideas on ways to best support their child. The grant will make a huge contribution to the club as it will provide activities and staff costs benefiting 10 local children and their families.
